USC Gill Composites Center researcher Dr. Bo Jin received the 2017 USC Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award

USC M.C. Gill Composites Center researcher Dr. Bo Jin received the 2017 USC Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering for his dissertation titled “Development of Composite Oriented Strand Board and Structures”. Bo received this special honor from Viterbi School of Engineering Dean Yannis Yortsos at the Ph.D. Hooding and Awards Ceremony on May 10, 2018.

Bo’s research interests are in experimental and computational mechanics and their applications in design, manufacturing, and characterizing multifunctional composites and structures. He previously worked at MSC NASTRAN (NASA Structural Analysis) Development as a Composites FEA Engineer, and at IMDEA Materials Institute (Madrid, Spain) as an assistant research scientist. In recognition of his work, Bo has previously received numerous honors including two Presidential Medallions of Honor from USC’s President, a USC Ph.D. Student Research Achievement Award, a National Ph.D. Research Award and a Ph.D. Leadership Award both from SAMPE (Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering), a prestigious National Ph.D. Dissertation Fellowship, three USC Award for Excellence in Teaching, and have received awards in several national and international research competitions.
