The SAMPE University Research Symposium is an annual national wide competition hosted by the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), one of the leading global professional societies for composites engineers. Students in undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. categories apply by submitting a personal statement and an abstract describing their research. Semifinalists are selected to write technical paper, and from those, finalists are selected and sponsored to give a conference presentation describing their research at the
SAMPE Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX) conference. The best presentations receive award certifications and cash prizes.

Wei Hu win 2nd place at the SAMPE University Research Symposium . Wei’s work titled “ Effects of super-ambient dwell on air removal in vacuum bag-only prepregs” discussed air removal mechanisms during super-ambient dwell and cure optimization guidelines for VBO processing.

Xiaochen Li won the 3rd price with the presentation “Imidization Behavior and Thermal Oxidative Stability of Phenylethynyl-Terminated Polyimide”.

Yijia Ma received 2019 Outstanding Technical Paper Award for her paper titled “Chemical Recycling of Amine/Epoxy Composites at Atmospheric Pressure: Fiber Recovery and Matrix Reuse”
