A group of engineering and chemistry students visited The Gill Corporation in El Monte on July 18th, and were treated to a fascinating tour of the manufacturing plant. The Gill Corporation, founded in 1947 by M.C. Gill, an alumnus of USC. The Gill Corporation is a vertically integrated supplier of high-performance composite materials and products for the aerospace industry. They specialize in producing honeycomb core, prepregs, laminates, and composite sandwich panels, with extensive value-add capabilities to provide complete parts and assemblies that are ready for installation. Their products are used in various applications such as aircraft interiors, engines, and structures. Many of the students in attendance are members of the USC chapter of SAMPE, an international technical society for manufacturing and process engineering. The faculty mentors attending were Professors Steve Nutt (engineering) and Travis Williams (chemistry).
