SAMPE-USC in collaboration with the M.C. Gill Composites Center at the University of Southern California hosted the third annual Composites Center Open House in association with SAMPE-LA. More than fifty professionals from local aerospace and composites industries and twenty students and faculty assembled at USC's Science Library for an evening of stimulating discussion. Attendees included employees of Boeing, Northrup Gruman, Composites One, Space X, Composites Horizons, E.V. Robers, and The aerospace Corporation, as well as students from USC, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal State Long Beach. The event program began with Pizza and an opportunity for socializing, which was followed by a presentation highlighting the research projects conducted at the Composites Center. Composites Center Director, Prof. Steven Nutt, provided an overview of facilities, personnel, and research motivations, before Prof. Tim Centea and graduates students Mark Anders and Bill Edwards presented more detailed discussion of their projects. Presentations were followed by an opportunity for guests to visit the labs in the Composites Center and discuss with students their research projects described in posters.
